Latch mounted with NO SUPPORT at the front
The Latch normally fits
under the winch as shown here. However in some cases the latch can
wind up with no support at the front - that is it is sitting out 'in
space', under extreme situations it can be bent, and the latch then
won't function properly.There
is an optional part called the "Latch Support" designed to solve
this problem

For details of how to
use this see "Latch Support" option
here
and you might also look at the "Before
You Install" document

The Correct Angle -
of the Latch to the Snare |
To get good performance, particularly on
Retrieve, you need to have the Latch hit the Snare at the right
angle. If it is not right you can use the "Wedge' option which will
raise or lower it by 14 degrees.
|
|

|
|
Examples where you might
need the "Wedge" |
|

|
|
The ski boat's Latch to Snare angles are about 58 to 62 degrees,
which is too low. The "Wedge" will bring this angle up nicely into
the right operating range. The "Wedge" is made from bolting together
the "Wedge side plates" to the Latch Support" |
| |
|

|
This is a fast and simple way of altering the Latch angle. The other
alternative is to replace or alter the angle of the winch post.
|
 |
|
Here is the wedge
mounted on the winch post so as to tilt up the Latch by 14 degrees.

For more detail on
this issue look at the "Wedge" option brochure
here |
| |
|
NOTE Carefully
In all cases be conscious of the fact that the front of the Latch
must be bolted to a support, otherwise you will void the
warranty.

Tip
Rope Diverter for Aluminium Boat Snare |
Avoiding rope catching up between snare and
bow
If the snare is mounted on the boat and there is a gap that a rope
can be caught in occasionally
(especially if a thin rope is used) then here is a way to avoid this
issue.
|
 |
This uses a piece of stiff plastic tube - see details
here.
